In the last 24 hours, I have learned:
… what an allergic reaction to penicillin looks like on my sweet Sara Paige.
… to be thankful for after hour nurses on-call at my pediatrician’s office.
… to be thankful for squeeze-us-in, morning appointments at my pediatrician’s office.
… that 3/4 tsp of Benadryl knocks out my 18mo old for a solid 4 hour nap.
… just when I think I have this parenting thing down, there’s a hiccup.
… I can eat an obscene amount of chewy chocolate chip cookies (okay, that I knew before).
… my favorite clickable pens explode black ink.
… my “to-do” list is ridiculous and most of it doesn’t matter.
… I really shouldn’t wait this long to pluck my eyebrows.
I’m hoping to learn a little less this weekend

Hey, friends! What have ya’ll been up to this week?
Sweet Sara Paige has felt dumpy and had a fever since Sunday. I took her to the doctor yesterday morning and she has a double ear infection; poor thing!! That explains the fever, cranks, and clingy-ness.

She’s been on antibiotics for 24 hours but doesn’t seem to feel better yet. Hopefully by tomorrow she’ll be feeling much better.
Kate’s been a really big helper and loves to play Mama to SP.

This morning while Sara Paige took a long nap, Kate helped me make some gifts. A bloggy friend of mine is having her second son (woo hoo!!). We made him an infant cap and we made a tool belt for his big brother.

I used this tutorial for the tool belt and would definitely recommend it! Sometimes it’s just so nice when someone else does the work of figuring out dimensions and such
The knotted cap is so soft. I love this olive green knit.
Last weekend I went to a baby shower and appliqued these circles on onesies – a quick and easy idea for a personalized gift:

And other than the occasional craft, I’m trying to keep my head above the ridiculous amount of daily laundry this family produces and stay OUT of the heat. 107 degrees last night at 8pm. YUCK.
Sara Paige gifted Kate a cuddly blanket from Target at the hospital when they first met. Kate immediately took to the blanket and dubbed it “Birdie.” Poor Birdie has been though the wringer. He’s been loved on and chewed on, and taken just about everywhere. He’s covered with holes and stains, despite many trips to the washing machine. Nonetheless, Kate adores him, just as she (still) adores Toasty.
I decided to make Kate a new quilt to love, along side Birdie. I used this great tutorial over at the Moda Bake Shop. Quick and easy, with precious prairie points for her to play with. The fabric is Tweet Tweet by Keiki and even has birdies on it – perfect!

I wanted to make the quilt a little more special, so I hand quilted it with pink Perle Cotton #8.

It’s already getting lots of snuggles.

“The scissors are cool. If I didn’t get them, I would definitely get something else for myself. I usually always get things for my girls.”
Thanks for entering, everyone!
And thanks for your support in regards to yesterday’s post.
