There’s a New Pre-K Kid in Town :)

I swear it was just yesterday I dropped Kate off at her first day of preschool. But it was a year ago!! She adored school last year and has been patiently waiting all summer for it to start up again.

Today was Kate’s first day in the Pre-K Frog class. She’ll be at school Monday-Thursday from 9am-2pm and is absolutely thrilled about it. Here are a few pictures from this morning:

A certain little someone *loves* to hold her big sister’s hand and walk into school together.

Sara Paige would be beside herself with glee if she could go to school too. But I told her she has to wait another year! Look at that big cheesy grin

After school Kate told me “I wasn’t nervous at all, Mommy! I am pretty tired from all that learning and playing but I can’t wait to go back tomorrow.”

A Back to School Knit Shirt for Kate

I *really* love my Ottobre magazines. I haven’t ordered any for almost a year but I absolutely adore the ones I have. The designs are timeless, in my opinion. The instructions are really clear and simple in most cases.

Ottobre is a Finish pattern magazine, but they make an English version. If you order a magazine, be sure it’s in your language! Unless you’re wanting an extra challenge, of course. (The Wooly Thread is a US distributor of the magazine, FYI).

I made the “Tilda T-shirt Dress” #27 from the Winter 6/2007 magazine.

I used Patty Young’s yummy knits for Kate’s shirt. I wanted it to have a funky fall vibe. I only had 1/2 yard of each fabric so I mixed up the pattern pieces (front and one sleeve green dots, back and the other sleeve stripes with a hot pink neck). I love how it turned out and so does Miss Kate.

The actual serging and top stitching only took 20 minutes. Score! What takes the longest with Ottobre patterns is tracing your desired size and adding seam allowances.

I thought you might get a kick out of this picture. The girls looked so cute the other day in their little striped dresses. I was just determined to get a precious picture of them. This is what I got, which at least cracks me up every time I look at it:

Somebody was NOT having it. Of course the second I put the camera away, she was all giggles. Toot!

Sara Paige is 100% and we’re back to our crazy kind of normal around here.

This is typical… Sara Paige wearing only a diaper and a pair of Kate’s shoes and Kate testing out her lastest DIY hair style. We’ve been listening to the Kidz Bop Pandora station lately and they love this song.

In other news, I’ve declared this week “Operation: Organization” in the Garland household. I am not a clutter-y person but the amount of junk (mostly toys) shoved in cabinets was crazy. I even found a whisk in my shoe today?

I reorganized the kitchen yesterday while the girls played in the tupperware cabinet. Why do we have toys when tupperware is more exciting? Anyway, I should have taken a before picture of the pantry but I forgot. Here’s how she looks now. I can actually see where everything is!

Today I’m on mission “Reign in the Toys” and tomorrow I shall attack the hall closet (aka – the place where all miscellaneous items are thrown)!
