Wow – there’s a random subject for ya.

Let’s start with the quilts. I am SO overwhelmed and thrilled with how many of you want to help make quilts for Kate, Olivia, and Will! I wish I could give you all giant hugs. I’ve already received a handful of quilt blocks and they are precious. If you would like to help, I am collecting blocks until April 1st.

Now lets talk quilt guild. Remember my experience with a local quilt guild the other month? I guess I wasn’t the only person who has encountered said experience. There is some big buzz about Modern Quilt Guilds popping up around the country (wee hoo!). Enter the Dallas Modern Quilt Guild. It’s a brand new group full of excited quilters (novice and experienced) who want to sew funky, contemporary quilts. The guild had an officer’s meeting today and everyone was so nice. If you’re local and interested in being a part of a fun, fresh quilt group, check out their site!

Onto the bathroom… I am spunking up our upstairs guest (aka Brad’s office) bathroom. I added some molding to the mirror and painted the cabinets black. I am *almost* done. Before/after pictures coming this week…

Next up? Soccer. I thought Kate had to be 4 before she could play soccer. I found out that there is a recreational 3 year old league though! She starts the end of the month and she cannot wait. Brad plays soccer a few times a week. Well, he did before he recently tore two out the three ligaments in his ankle. But that’s another story for another time. Kate of course wants to do anything her Daddy does and is ecstatic to play on a soccer team. She has already named the team “Katie Kicks” and has decided that everyone needs to wear head to toe pink. I haven’t broken it to her that “Katie Kicks” probably won’t be voted the team name and that there is no uniform. No matter, we’ll refer to soccer practice as “Katie Kicks” either way! The first practice is the last weekend in March.

Fourth on the list is crafting. I had a lot of fun participating in the So You Think You’re Crafty competition. Unfortunately, I got booted off this week. I am a secretly (okay, not so secretly now) relieved because it took up a surprising amount of time and for some reason ST-RESS-ED me out. Thanks for keeping up with my projects

Finally, cinnamon rolls. I made the Pioneer Woman’s cinnamon rolls from scratch (don’t be impressed, they’re super easy) and OH. EM. GEE. They are soooooo yummy. The recipe made um… 50 cinnamon rolls. Let me tell you, my rear end does not need 50 cinnamon rolls. If you saw the Oscars tonight, I would reckon that Zoe Zaldana could use a cinnamon roll or 50 though.

She can sure rock those ruffles though. Do you think it would be overkill if I wore a dress like that to the grocery store? Yeah. Me too. Thought I would check though. I love it.

Oh, right. Back to the cinnamon rolls. If you like to eat things that are incredibly delicious and yummy and tasty and artery clogging rich, please do yourself a favor and make Ree’s cinnamon rolls. They are divine!

I am so sorry for the stream of consciousness here. I think I have too much sugar swirling around in me!

PS – Has anyone seen the Marriage Ref? Thoughts? I haven’t caught it on TV yet but set the DVR up to record it this week.

There are so many things I love about quilting. One of my favorite things is the feeling of comfort and peace I feel when snuggled up in a handmade quilt.

Candace is collecting quilt blocks for Layla Grace and her siblings. As I was sewing a few blocks for Layla Grace this morning, I started to think about another young girl who’s been on my mind for months and months. Have you read about Kate McRae? She is just the most adorable, sweetest thing you have ever seen. She was supposed to start kindergarten this past year but was abruptly diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in August. Kate’s parents, Holly and Aaron, write about her treatment and their struggles. I cannot begin to imagine what the McRae family has been through and they have a long road ahead of them.

Which leads me to this… I would LOVE to make a quilt for Kate and her siblings, Will and Olivia. If you would like to help by making a block, I would be ever so grateful You can make any block with any fabric, as long as it measures 8″. If you are interested, leave a comment and I will send you my address to mail the block to. I would love to receive all the blocks by April 1st.

Thanks so much

This is crazy. For the last two months, we haven’t gone more than a week without someone in our house being sick. You would think we have been rolling around in a vat of germs. Bleh!

Monday night Brad and I went to see the Mavericks play. Unfortunately, a nasty stomach bug hit me (and I mean HIT me) almost as soon as we walked in the door. We didn’t even make tip off. I felt like death. I was completely useless yesterday, and today for that matter.

I officially ban my family from getting sick for the next 3 months. If you see me, I will probably be carrying Lysol. You may want to turn the other way before I spray you too!

I’m off to gargle salt water because I have lost my voice. Hope you’re faring much better,
