Dallas Modern Quilt Guild Retreat

I got back yesterday afternoon from the Dallas Modern Quilt Guild’s retreat at the Compass Centre. It was blast. I spent two days and nights sewing with friends, learning new techniques, giggling, eating, and relaxing. Did I mention all meals were provided? Fabulous. There were also cookies the size of my head. Yum :)

I finished this baby quilt for Harper. It’s made with Kate Spain’s Fandango flannel,

and backed in Minky fabric. It feels heavenly. SO glad I get to hold her all bundled up in this one :)

Then I made a dear friend a baby quilt for her little one.

Here’s his little monogram that I appliqued on. This quilt has polyester batting (the first one had cotton). The polyester batting I used is pretty lofty so this quilt has a good “squish” factor. Also backed in minky. This quilt features “Lily and Will” as well as “Martinique” by Moda.

Then I pieced and basted a giant picnic quilt for my fam. This one features some of my favorite lines from Moda. I don’t think this quilt will get lost in a crowd, do you?

I loved these design walls at the retreat. I don’t have one at home but they were so helpful in laying out blocks. Here’s April using her design wall:

Here are some gals helping Melanie baste her gorgeous quilt:

And I thought I took more pictures, but I guess I was too busy eating, laughing, and quilting. A good problem to have, if you ask me! :)

Brad spent the weekend spoiling my cutie pies. I sure was glad to see him and my little butter beans when I got home.

Glad you had a fun retreat. I am jealous, even though I had a great time at the Houston Quilt Festival. Your quilts are wonderful. I have a portable design wall by http://www.cherylannsdesignwall.com and really love it. Very compact and helpful.
