Sara Paige gifted Kate a cuddly blanket from Target at the hospital when they first met. Kate immediately took to the blanket and dubbed it “Birdie.” Poor Birdie has been though the wringer. He’s been loved on and chewed on, and taken just about everywhere. He’s covered with holes and stains, despite many trips to the washing machine. Nonetheless, Kate adores him, just as she (still) adores Toasty.
I decided to make Kate a new quilt to love, along side Birdie. I used this great tutorial over at the Moda Bake Shop. Quick and easy, with precious prairie points for her to play with. The fabric is Tweet Tweet by Keiki and even has birdies on it – perfect!
I wanted to make the quilt a little more special, so I hand quilted it with pink Perle Cotton #8.

It’s already getting lots of snuggles.

Adorable Quilt. I love the dark stitching around the pinwheels..thanks for the idea!
I am so sorry to have read also about your sister…my prayers are with her and her family. My pets are special to me too..so I know that loss as well.
Blessings..

I was shocked to see the pics of the house. My heart aches for the pets and family.
I came to the website to find out what kind of snaps you used for the casserole cover and what type of press.
So sorry for the tragedy.
Hope to hear from you soon. Thank You.
Kim
you are so amazing. i love this and now want to try this one next. What an amazing treasure!!
I love the way this quilt turned out. I just finished a quilt top with a Hello Betty charm pack and now I wish I’d seen this first! I didn’t think I liked pinwheels until I saw this. And I wouldn’t have thought about a baby liking the prairie points, but now that you mentioned it, it’s perfect…kind of like those tag blankets.
