A year ago today, on an rare icy day in Dallas, our family grew from three to four. We welcomed precious Sara Paige into the world.
Sara Paige is incredibly sweet-natured and easy going. She lights up a room with her smile and makes me laugh when I want to be grumpy. She is curious, sneaky, affectionate, and absolutely smitten with Kate.
I cannot believe a year has passed since I first held her in my arms. Today we celebrated in between lots of naps. The poor thing has had pneumonia this week and is just worn out.
Here’s a recap of today’s main events…
This morning, she was not too keen on bright lights, pictures being snapped, nor my excessively loud rendition of “Happy Birthday!”
But she warmed up after a minute and started dancing in her crib.
Then Sara Paige played, took a nap, played, took a nap, etc.
This evening, she was super excited to see “Dahhhh Dahhhh” when he got home from work. Who does Sara Paige look like by the way?
Mommy gave her lots and lots of sugars today too.
Kate sang “Go Sara Paigey, Go, Go, Sara Paigey” all day long while shaking her booty.
When it was time to party, Sara Paige was rested and ready to rock!
Um, a side note here… If you wait until the day of your kid’s birthday to run to the store to get a cake, don’t expect them to have a small vanilla one with white icing for first birthday smashing. This BRIGHT red ladybug (?) cake was our option. I didn’t think too much about it at the time.
However…
That red stains. Skin. A lot. Sara Paige didn’t mind though!

Girlfriend turned the bath water pink!!
And she is still “rosy.”
After her bath, we opened presents and she gladly crashed into bed!
Happy birthday, baby girl!! We love you so much.
Jenny, you are the best mommy in the world and Ms. SP was surely the cutest 1 year old .. what a fun day and so glad she is feeling better..

Awww…sweet Sara Paige…Happy 1st Birthday! I LOVED the red all over her face, she looked like a little clown and that smile, oh my…so C.U.T.E.! Amazing she’s one already…such a doll. Hope she continues to feel like her old self real soon! Have a great weekend sweet family!

Cute pics! We made the same mistake when it was lukes 1st bday. His face was stained red for a couple days! Just a little FYI for the next kid, market street gives the cutesy free smash cakes when you order the 1st bday cake with them.
