DIY Super Easy Fall Wreath

I really liked my spring wreath, so I decided we needed a fall one! Um, have you all looked at how expensive wreaths are at the store? CRAZY. And they’re almost always way too small. I can’t stand a dinky wreath.

So last night Kate and I set out to make our own large and in charge fall wreath. Here’s how we did it in case you want to do your own too :)

You will need:

  • 2 grapevine wreaths (one small and one large)
  • floral wire or plastic ties to attach the wreaths
  • glue gun
  • decorative accents to add to the wreath
  • a long piece of ribbon to hang your wreath
  • hammer and nail

1. Get out your grapevine wreaths:

2. Put the smaller wreath on top of the larger one and attach them. You can use plastic ties like I did or floral wire. (In case you’re wondering, we need to use two wreaths to bulk up the wreath and give it more depth).

3. Trim ties and gather all the crap decorative accents you want to attach to your wreath. Pincones, leaves, berries, etc…

4. Get out your glue gun, ladies. Layering is key. Be sure to overlap pieces and avoid pointing everything the same way! See how each piece of fruit is facing a different direction?

Keep adding stuff with your glue gun.

Until your wreath is as full as you like.

5. To hang, slide a long piece of ribbon through the top of your wreath. Hammer the end of the ribbon with one nail to the top of your door. If you have a metal door, you can screw it in. The door will still close, don’t worry :)

Look at pictures of how the Nester hangs her wreaths this way.

Yay for fall! :)

K, I recently bought a wreath to put on my front door, and now I need the ‘crap’ to put on it–where did you get the pomegranate-looking things? I ripped out a PotteryBarn page, and I’m trying to duplicate it….we’ll see!

Audrey – you can get the pomegranate things in the floral section of Walmart or probably Hobby Lobby. John’s over here now playing XBox with Brad and I’m finishing up Hallie’s bday present. See you tomorrow!

  6. LOVE! I think maybe I should make one this weekend!
